Dear Mr. Yoon-sang LEE,
This morning, I was deeply saddened hearing of a fiery aircraft crash in South Korea. A Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which destined from Bangkok, Thailand, went off the runway and crashed at Muan International Airport.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam (CAAV) and I wish to convey profound condolences to the Korea Office of Civil Aviation, colleagues, as well as the families and friends of those who fall victim to the unfortunate event.
I hope the rescue efforts continuing at the site will save many lives, limiting damages as much as possible.
The CAAV appreciates the support from Korea Office of Civil Aviation over the past time. As a companion, please be known at the moment that our hearts go out to you.
I wish your esteemed authority and Jeju Air would overcome all difficulties and soon recover from the accident.

On the afternoon of September 18, 2024, Director General Đinh Việt Thắng welcomed His Excellency Kinzang Dorji, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bhutan to Thailand, concurrently accredited to Vietnam, during his visit and work session at the office of the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam (CAAV) has instructed relevant airlines operating regular international flights to Viet Nam to tighten flight document checks for incoming and transit passengers.
Vietnam Airlines will double the frequency of flights to Dien Bien to serve the National Tourism Year 2024, towards the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.
The Hanoi–Ho Chi Minh City flight route has once again secured its place among the world’s busiest domestic routes, ranking fourth on the latest global list, according to data released by OAG, a leading travel and aviation analytics organization.
